October 2104 Solar Eclipse in Albuquerque
Practicing my star photography. Here is a shot out the back yard (not a great dark sky spot).
Cannon T2i Rebel
30 seconds at ISO 1600
F3.5, 18mm (correction factor because of sensor size) = 18*1.6 = 28.8mm
Original resolution = 3465 x 5184

30 seconds is too long. I get some star streaking. I need a faster lens!
Note the airplane flying through
The clouds cleared a bit and got to use the new lens for the first time. There is quite a bit of “fish eye” distortion on the edges and I need to learn how to remove it using photoshop. Note the two satellites in the upper right. I believe one is USA-238 and the other is related “junk” in the same orbit. 12/29/2015, 10 seconds, f2.8, ISO 1600, 10mm (16mm effective when the sensor size is considered).
From December 30, 2015. My second shot with my faster lens. I still have some “fish-eye” distortion I need to learn how to eliminate. You can see Orion just below and to the right of the center. His belt is vertical. You can see just a hint of nebulosity in the middle sword “star” (10 seconds, F2.8, 10mm, ISO 1600). Click the image for a better view.
